Dr. Kathleen Garry | Owner
Dr. Kathleen Garry, owner of New Prague Dental Center, has practiced dentistry in New Prague since 1999. Being from the once small town of Victoria, she enjoys treating the families from the New Prague and surrounding areas. Volunteering on a dental mission trip to Honduras as a dental assistant sparked her desire to go on to become a dentist.
Graduating from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry, Dr. Garry received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1993. She then completed a one year general practice residency program at Hennepin County Medical Center. Dr. Garry says “Getting my education along with helping raise my two sons helped me gain organizational skills so needed for running a busy dental office.”
Dr. Garry continues to improve her skills and her practice by continuing education courses and with incorporating new technologies. Her professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association and the Midwest Dental Study Club. She volunteers for Give Kids A Smile and one of her goals is to go on more frequent mission trips. She is grateful for and enjoys working with her talented staff at New Prague Dental Center.
Dr. Garry resides with her husband, John Hilla, and an energetic Jack Russel terrier in Credit River Township near Carl’s Lake. She has two grown sons and John has three grown daughters and one grand-daughter. Along with family activities, Dr. Garry loves to garden and design and landscape her yard, which has gotten in the way of roller blading and biking. She gave up competitive running a number of years ago, but still ventures into the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming to backpack. And, at the end of the day, she loves to read a good book.

Dr. David Bruzek
Dr. Bruzek was born and raised in New Prague. Following college he worked as a Field Engineer for Univac, a manufacturer of computer hardware and software. During the nine years with Univac, Federal Systems Division, he worked on the navy’s Poseiden Program, NASA’s Apollo Program and the Federal Aviation Administration’s ARTS program. These projects required much travel within and outside the United States and involved aspects of computer design, system installation and maintenance and later, system design.
During his last two years in college he considered a career in the medical field. While working for Univac he went on a Mission trip with a group of New Prague High School students and the associate pastor of St. Wenceslaus. He also spent much time with a past college friend who was attending Dental School. Those and his desire to be in a health profession caused him to pursue a career change, this time in dentistry.
Being one of the older dental students had its challenges but it also had some advantages. He was one of the students who spent a summer externship working with a dentist in Aitkin MN. He was also selected to attend his senior year at the Royal Dental College in Aarhus, Denmark. Both offered invaluable experiences that would not have been possible at the U of MN. In June 1977 he graduated from the University Of Minnesota School Of Dentistry.
Dr. Bruzek practiced dentistry in Hutchinson, MN and Lake City, MN before coming to New Prague in the fall of 1982. He has also spent six years teaching in the dental assisting and dental hygiene programs at Mankato State University (MSU), has developed and taught various dental Continuing Education courses and together with MSU and the MN Dept. of Health was instrumental in starting a full service dental clinic in Madelia MN. He as been a dental consultant for a number of dental “insurance” plans and had, with two other dentists, a dental benefit corporation in which they marketed their products and services. Dr. Bruzek has made two trips to the San Lucas Mission in Guatemala to do dentistry. Each time several of his four grown children accompanied him.
Dr. Bruzek and his wife, Kitty, live in New Prague where they are active in church and community events.
